“EasySort” – automated system for garbage collection using neural networks – winner of start-up projects competition

On November 9-11. 2018, students of the 11th grade of Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Astana: Aliyev Alisher, Zhetpisbekov Zhomart, Kenzhebek Daryn, Askaruly Tarlan, Muratov Adilkhan participated in the final competition of startup projects.

The competition on the topic of sustainable development was held in the framework of Astana Innovation Challenge in the Startup Weekend format. Startup Weekend is a start-up marathon with 26 participating teams.

During the competition, mentors and specialists consulted and assisted participants with a project work. 10 teams presented their projects aimed at promoting positive social and environmental changes in the capital.

By the decision of the jury, the Intellectual School team project named “EasySort”, an automated system for garbage collection using the neural network, took the 1st place and won a cash prize of 500,000 tenge for the implementation of a startup. Robotics instructor at Nazarbayev Intellectual School Nurgaliyeva Symbat Altybaevna notes that the guys were able to interest the jury members by proposing the rational use of plastic waste and recycling.

We hope that our children’s project  in the future will help for development of Astana as a “smart city”.
