From 13 to 17 September 2021, the Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in the city of Astana monitors the educational achievements of students in grades 8-12 in basic subjects.
According to the Vice-Principal for Academic Affairs, Ayan Altynbekov, monitoring is carried out systematically in September, January and April in accordance with the Policy for Evaluating the Academic Achievements of Students of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools.
As the Vice-principal of the school emphasizes, monitoring is the observation of the educational process, tracking the effectiveness of the assimilation of the material, identifying gaps in knowledge and skills, determining the causes of difficulties. The main goal of monitoring is to improve the quality of education.
Monitoring is carried out for several days in the form of computer testing in the subjects “Mathematics”, “Physics”, “Chemistry”, “Biology”, “History of Kazakhstan”, “Kazakhstan in the modern world”, “Informatics”, “Geography.
Also, students in grades 8-12 will answer the test questions in language subjects, showing the level of mastering four types of speech activity: “Reading”, “Listening”, “Writing” and “Speaking”.
For 7th grade students, this monitoring will be “input”: in addition to the test in mathematics and language subjects, 7th graders perform tasks to determine spatial thinking.
Such tracking of results helps to control the course of the pedagogical process, predict its further development and develop recommendations for making adjustments to the curriculum.
